According to my calendar I have managed to double book myself for the PF weekend. This isn't a huge problem as this only affects one day but it presents an interesting problem.

I'm supposed to be racing at Brands Hatch on either the 3rd or 4th (hasn't been announced which yet but my money is on the 4th).

Since there is no way I would miss the entire weekend I am left with a few options:

1) Bring the Griff and drive home to swap over to the tow car as needed
2) Bring the towcar (with trailer loaded) and save myself some grief (has the advantage that I have something totally unique instead of just another TVR)
3) Just not bother going to the race

I would rather not go for 3 but this might be a necessity depending on how things fare the day before. 1 and 2 are quite possible but both present another issue - in order to get to Brands on time I need to leave at a stupid time in the morning - so I need to park somewhere I can get out of without waking everyone else up to move their cars. Of course I will be likely making so much noise that I wake everyone up anyway but I promise to try and be considerate.

Am I going to be hung, drawn and quartered if I set off at 5am? Am I going to be able to leave at all?

Pitch your tent in an out of the way place ...so as to disturb as few peeps as possible

It's a good 3 hour drive to Brands though.

Could a reserve driver take your place? ...would make their day

Not sure anyone else would want to drive my car - it will all depend on how the championship goes. At the moment I am leading my class but that is only because no-one else has scored any points yet. There are 3 more races before PF so things could be very different by then - if I'm still leading I will definitely have to go (assuming I am not still the only person to score in my class).

3 hours is nothing really - it takes about that long to get to any of the circuits normally so no big deal. Only Silverstone really offers an easy drive for me. Don't think I will be bothering with Anglesey or Knockhill though!

If I had a licence I'd drive your car for you You'd get no points, and the car would be lapped umpteen times as well

Do you end up in Croft at all?

Wouldn't be much different from normal then!

No visits to croft this year although it has traditionally been one of the venues we visit:

I think that settles it then

So are you coming along to PF too Pete? At least you have the option to drive to Brands with your car if you had too!

The next problem is "do I stay up all night partying?"

Other than the issue of getting to Brands Hatch on raceday I would say this is something of a must-attend event.

Yes - it is something of a car lovers piss-up but I don't see anything wrong with that (provided no-one tries driving afterwards). The pistonheads crowd is amongst the friendliest I have ever come across and we all share a love of driving. You never know who you are going to meet (although in some cases it is a safe bet) and there are a lot of great people here (and will be there at PF).

Not all of us have flash cars (or at least expensive flash cars) but there is no stigma attached (although a few people will be ribbed over it - but it is never malicious).

Incidentally I would happily say that the old AutoItalia/AROC crowd were on a happy par so you should feel right at home

Is there anything I've missed?

I have the same problem, double booked, got a sprint at Colerne on the Saturday, will have to sign-in at 8am, so that means leaving early on Saturday. I think I will just B&B it near Colerne on Friday night, have the sprint, then arrive at PF later on Saturday afternoon and:

Option 1.

Find 'nice' pitch, put tent up, erect white PVCu picket fence, set up potted shrubs & flowers, set up table with crisp white linen, silverware, candles, crystal etc, erect satellite dish, set up windbreaks and gas hob, BBQ, open crate of red wine, sit in sun, car adjacent with doors open to enjoy drifting aroma of freshly 'liquid leathered' interior, recline and watch antics of PH'ers.

Option 2.

Ditch car anywhere, get pissed.
