My hatch won't stay shut !
Discussion
As some of you may know I smashed the rear screen in my 944, I've now replaced it. I decided to go down the conventional glass route and picked up a secondhand rear hatch.
Problem is the latching mechanism seems to be a pain to adjust and once I manage to adjust it, it only takes a breif run down the local lanes befor it comes loose. It then releases the hatch which rises up on the new gas struts (the old ones were damaged in the hatch smashing incident) much to the amusment of other motorists !
Are the latch pins the only bit that adjust ? Should I give up fiddling with the old ones and by new pins ?
Have I missed something obvious ?

And also:
On the car itself, underneath the boot lip there are the hatch locking mechanisms. These are attahced by two bolts each. Undo these bolts- not compelatly, but enough for the locking mechanism to wiggle.
Now, shut the boot.
Now the really tricky part: from the inside, climb over the rear seats and under the dash. Tighten these bolts in-situ. (In other words, they have been moved by the pins, to a better location)
Then r3e-open the boot and tighten fully. then test drive. As the other write said, its a common problem and difficult to get absulutly right.
