What is it with women? you read this in a very high %age of TVR classified ads! Its normally associated with new baby (mayhaps the exhaust awakens the little things)

I must say however that my wife threatened divorce if i bought one (I do miss her ...... a bit )

So, thinking about this, your wife if given the choice between you and a car on the one side, and divorce on the other, would choose divorce.

This means she values you and your marriage equally to that of the car, being that she would give you up if you got the car.

I think now is the time to cut her loose and get that TVR.

Sorry - misread title....

...thought you'd said "HAVING TO SELL MY CAR DUE TO NAGGING WIFE!" for a moment.

Phew!

Now I realise it says "HAVING TO SELL MY WIFE DUE TO NAGGING CAR!" - well it's a tough life.......

It's funny... My girlfriend thought I should have bought a more sensible car when I got the Chimaera. I then sold the Chim and bought a VX220 Turbo... She's now nagging me to go back to TVRs! Maybe in a year or two... I've always wanted a Cerbie!

And on a more positive note:

It's strange really. Mrs Beano (who isn't technically Mrs Beano, I suppose that makes a difference!) is all for me being the person I am.

So she positively encourages me at times. I have the green light for the next TVR (or she knows she won't stop me).

Keeping it in perspective too, she does worry about me having a TVR. Much along the lines of the spate of "is it safe" postings recently. Then she realises, not that this is any guarantee, that I have been motorcycling for a few years and I take a (relatively) responsible attitude to driving.

There are also a few discussions about a potential second car, that will be more "practical" whatever that means!!!!

I suppose part of it is that I already had the TVR (only by a few weeks) when I first met her and she sees it as part of my personality/baggage/set up/whatever as opposed to something that I suddenly woke up one day and wanted!

I must have a gem of a wife then (in fact, I know I have). Talking one night like you do over a glass or two, I mentioned the lack of use the Chim was going to get because of the arrival of Jnr Yiw. (Incidentally he has been in it several times, roof on and off, and loves it).

The argument being that the TVR is our weekend and holiday transport and we can't all go together anymore. So she says to me buy a Cerb then, we can all go out, have family days out, etc. She's not particularly a petrolhead either, she drives the Tiv and enjoys it, but I never thought she'd suggest a Cerb. I was at best expecting a 'keep the Chim for yourself', or at worst 'buy a Beemer ragtop'.

Whats cheaper, selling the car or divorce?

I had to sell mine due to arrival of baby because it was my only car and I just couldnt justify that sort of money sitting on the drive 5 days out of 7.

Was fun parking in parent and child spaces in a TVR with a newborn for a while though...

I did that the other day in a particularly busy Safeway car park. Some woman pulled up behind my (parked) Chim in the parent and child spaces and gave me the evil glare (Ageing people-carrier and two hyper toddlers bouncing unrestrained in the back). Of course you then take your time putting the hood up,etc. She was on the point of getting out to berate me for parking my car where I did, when out comes Joe in his Maxi Cosy from the passenger seat. Her face was absolutely priceless!

Well it would point to my original comment that your not allowed (in some people's eyes) to own children and sports car how ireasponsable, I had simlar from a female jobsworth at A*da. She actually told me that "you can't park there!" Pull the drivers seat forward and out pops a 5 and a 7 year old. "Why not?" Where's my Mastercard.

SO BEWARE OF THE STAGED CAR SEAT MOST CONFRONTATION OCCURS AS YOU EXIT YOUR CAR!!!

My GF actually complains that I bought a Griff and not a Tuscan.. she really had a mope around when we went to pick it up..

Now she just keeps telling me that she will leave me unless I buy a Tuscan in the same colour as the one in Swordfish...!!!

Anyone got one for sale?

Otherwise I will have to change my Girlfriend.. not such a bad thing maybe..?

There are plenty of Fish in the Sea! The TVR will give you much more satisfaction than any woman could. Sign the papers and drive off laughing I say.

Within "cherubs" do you include the little darling that spent most of the evening under your table kicking me a Planet Dave by any chance
