PCCB Prices reduced
Discussion
Porsche GB has obviously listened to the owners concerns about the PCCB prices and has just reduced the price for replacement and exchange discs as follows:
New discs down from circa £5,800+vat to £4,100+vat each
Exchange discs (which are new ceramic parts fitted to reconditioned bells) - down from £3,100+vat to £2,200 + vat
This is obviously great news for PCCB owners.
This now means that a pair of front discs can be had for £5k exchange, rather the old price of nearly £14k for new.
Given that the price for steel discs is circa £1k per pair (from Porsche), the PCCB discs only need to last 4-5 times as long as the steel discs to be a similar cost/mile.
Given this only effects heavy track users, who would ordinarily expect to replace steel discs as some intervals, this is welcome news indeed. The bills will be less frequent for PCCB owners, albeit larger when they arrive - but at least not insane like before......

It's a start.....the good thing is as more cars are fitted with these hopefully the price will come down further.
I have only passengered in a PCCB car and was not suitably impressed by the braking performance.
For the cost/performance, I still think steel rotors appear to be the way to go, i am not convinced by the weight saving advantage, particularly when the PCCB seem to be fitted to lardy Pork as it is.

The used discs can be totally screwed I think. I'm assuming that this is simply a method to ensure that these prices are only available to people who genuinely worn out PCCB discs, not to those trying to buy new ones...........
I'll now keep my PCCB, as they've done a couple of thousand miles and show no problems at all and as long as they last a few years, which I totally expect them to do, I'm happy.
The weight reduction, especially unsprung is well worthwhile.

Good news!...although i have to say i've been really impressed with mine, 7500 lively miles including 4 trackdays....discs look fine no sign of any of the reported cracking...just changed the front pads..which where cheaper than a friends who is running steels!?.....the power and feel of the brakes once they have got a bit of heat into them are fantastic....can feel a bit wooden when not used for a bit on the motorway etc.....but still get the job done...i can't help feeling a lot of the pcccb's has really been a case of chinese whispers
It's good to cars like GT2's & GT3's being used on a regular basis rather than stuck away in a garage. I've had my GT3 for nearly 3 months and it's only covered a few hundred miles in that time.
I'm hoping to make up for lost time in the coming months though. I'm off to Suffolk this weekend and the weather forcast is good so hopefully I'll have some fun motoring.
