Disabling Golf Mk4 alarm - Need to now!
Discussion
The GF's GTi decided the boot was open when it wasn't on her way home tonight and a search on here resulted in the cause which lies in the bootlid and potentially a leaky rear washer. Anyway, I've had the boot trim off, removed a couple of technical looking 'plugs' and hoped the alarm would no longer go off...it just has. All I need is to quieten it tonight before we can get to VW in the morning.
Now, before I follow through with the "I'll disconnect the fking battery if I have to" that's just echoed through the Fun Bus household, can anyone offer an alternative.
Thanks in advance and in hope of sleeping tonight and not upsetting the neighbours.

I'm fairly sure the alarm has a back up battery in it so disconnecting the cars battery won't help. Leaving the latch and solenoid will just leave an open circuit so it turn will probably mean it thinks the boot it is open. Unless you can somehow make a bit of wire to join the wires to the latch (will be a microswitch inside to trigger alarm/interior light) that should close the circuit thus causing it to think the boot is closed.
If there is more than one then as you go through them the one that turns the boot light off should be the right one.
Please note this could be completely wrong but it's not a bad start
