The 3 year lease on my 08 E220 CDi (Avantgarde)saloon with 31K miles runs out in a couple of months, I'm seriouly thinking of buying (if I can) it from Lombard. Has anybody a guide to whats it's likely to cost me?

Thanks

I would be very surprised if you can buy it from them, most lease companies already have a deal set up with someone to buy them already.

Have you asked?

Don't you fancy the same car, same year, same trim level, with similar mileage, but in far more versatile estate form, with lovely AMG wheels? Make me an offer wink

Best to ask them. We have bought cars that were on lease but I think there is some tax reason why it can not be sold directly to the person (company) that was leasing it. That may not apply if it was a personal lease rather than a business one. When we have bought them in the past the driver has made a bid for it rather than the company, I think the cost was quite reasonable and they were open to a bit of haggling. Another option may be to see if they will extend the lease period.

You're right. If the car is on a Contract Hire agreement and the lessee has been reclaiming any of the VAT it should be sold to a third party. In effect this can be the broker that supplied the car (if it wasn't Lombard Direct) or an employee of the lessee.

I suspect Lombard will want the Cap price for the car.

If its PCP you probably could, but if its CH they will most likely already have a buyer for it. In my experience a fair number of ex-Lombard Mercs just go back to MB UK and are resold through the approved used network.
