I need a 42" plasma, but what has happened to Panasonic?
Discussion
I have just returned my Panasonic S20 42" for a refund, two months old and the screen failed.
Now I need to buy another telly for around the £600 mark. However, I can't find the S20 at any 'decent' retailer (are they phasing them out?) and the G20 is now no longer available from John Lewis.
Can I still get a Panasonic 42" Plasma (must have a five year warranty) from anywhere?

Thanks, I saw that but the 'may be ex-display or ex-repair' put me off! I want a new one, not a second hand one.Edited by JumboBeef on Friday 7th January 17:28

House of Fraser have the 42" S20 for £549 and the G20 for £649 , I checked stock with them and they have plenty
both include the 5 yr guarantee
How come it is saying out of stock on their website then... strange both include the 5 yr guarantee

Ah ok, thanks. It doesn't look like there are going to be any of these left by the time I get my bonus (24th March)...
As bobthemonkey pointed out, there will be a new range by then - Panny change them every year.I really wanted a 37PX80 a couple of years ago but left it late and struggled to find one. Eventually found one in a distant Comet branch and got a deal on it with 5yr warranty as it was end-of-line. However the AV forums were full of people hunting for them - they probably could have sold it at a premium!

Not 100% sure on the nomenclature for the UK 2011 models.
Probably the 42GT30 which launched at CES days ago. Similar overall specs but with 3D and a flush front.

there won't be a 42 inch version (at least initially).
FWIW It appears to me that Panasonic have turned the corner aesthetically. Accepting looks are subjective I have preferred the looks of recent Sonys over Panasonics. As I'll be looking to replace my dear old 32" Sony CRT in the Spring/Summer I'm glad to see that (as I know I really should switch brands this time).
Unless Sony's new range take my fancy

Will be nice to be able to watch films without squinting (been using a 20" screen for the last couple of months!)
