Developing mechanical career

I work as a maintenance plumber/fitter for an aerospace factory and have been for 3 years. I worked in domestic plumbing beforehand for 2 years. Through this I now have NVQs in lvl2 Plumbing and lvl3 Maintenance Engineering. I am now out my time and feel I'm heading to a dead end, I want to look to progressing into different fields and enhancing my knowledge, skills and qualifications.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good job, pays well for my relativly limited experience so I'm not looking to change just yet but want some ideas for the future for the next few years. It's just that I just know I'm not ever going to get further with the company I am so just need some ideas please. Thanks

try and get your company to send you on your 17th edition sparky course, once you got that...the world is your oyster your problem you have, is most places will want either someone electrical or dual skilled.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately my employer won't put me on any electrical course as I'm on the mechanical side of the team.

I am thinking of going back into domestic and maybe going for level 3 Plumbing and Heating and getting Gas under my belt too. Then there is oil, air conditioning, and loads of other stuff.

Any words of wisdom?
