In case anyone needs a clue, there is a recipe section at the back of the instruction booklet....

The very first recipe in the whole thing is entitled "Garlic butter for stuffing snails"!

He was indeed. He also worked at the Parker House hotel in Boston. I stayed there once, and was rather struck by the thought of him serving individuals for whose deaths he might later be responsible.
