taking the sag apart!

well as soon as I`ve finished posting this I`ll be out in the garage taking the car apart, but will ned to try and keep myself in check and not get carried away or the thing will be off the road for months

list of jobs to do are;
remove oil tank and swirl pot and expansion bottle to polish up.
oil and coolant change,
remove battery and check connections ect
check offside engine mount
sort a couple of oil leaks on pipe unions
tidy up oil pipe routing when refitting, it looks to congested in there!
degrease, clean up engine and chassis in engine bay.
check ,clean waxoil outriggers, clean main chassis and check for corrosion ect.
clean all wheelarches, repaint (will ask about this later, g varleys looks ace)
clean, check all wishbones struts ect.
check brakes ect whilst in the vacinity.
fit new rear anti roll bar drop links.
change gearbox and diff oil.

have I missed anything that should be checked whilst I`m under there?

must not decide to remove exhaust manifolds and have them coated in a lovely colour yet
must not remove engine in search of more power.

Silicon hose kit as the originals always seem to leak after they have been removed & re-fitted.

P.S Can you believe that I have had the Sag for approx 5 weeks now and I am yet to drive it anywere. Weather etc, etc. I am thinking weather I should take her out 2nite for the first time?

well after a bit of stripping down today I have found that there was no antifreeze in the system, clear water, no smell or stickiness that you normally get, short of drinking it, I`m pretty certain none was in there.
there are some clear antifreezes on the market, I use them at work on the water cooled welding sets, but they have a strong smell to them, like any other glycol, so not happy with its last 12k service done last April.

oil not to bad, and both sump plugs were clean, no nasty bits of metal stuck on them.

I have found that the underside of the front of the car, directly under the number plate has been scraped very badly during its life, I`ll sort this by making a stainless steel plate, formed and fitted to the fibreglass under the car so as to take the wear and tear, should I get caught out on bumps in the road ect.

I have removed all of the oil hoses, and will try to source some nice stainless braided ones to bling it up a bit, anyone know of a supplier for these, I was thinking of Merlin motorsport unless someone can recommend another supplier?

Do you fancy making me one up? Obviously for beer tokens No matter what you do, speed humps and the like are always having a go at this area no matter how carefull you are.

Wow! I want my engine bay to look as tidy and clean as that.

I'm going to be cleaning mine up shortly too. I'll be leaving everything where it is though, I dont want to mess anything up.
