I looked at a car today (well, bought it, actually), and upon going through one of the insurance comparison websties, I entered the reg no, and it returned a diesel car. Now the one I bought isn't a diesel. I AskedMid too, and that says it's a diesel.

Any reason for concern, or just an error on the part of the current insurer or dealer?

It's a main dealer, BTW.

I guess HPI will tell me the truth, yes?

I bought from a main dealer, yes. I've only paid a deposit so far.

Whew. Sigh of relief.

Salesman wrote the reg number down incorrectly on my invoice! xxxxEHB, not EHP

I've just checked a photo of the car, and that number comes up with the right details.

I bought a used black BMW from BMW dealer - the registration document came back saying it was red!!

It turns out that the sde of black on all BMWs comes up as red from the DVLA. Try explaining that one!!

It's probably no one considered it possible for a BMW to not be resale grey

Had a similar problem with a Smart Roadster Coupe. The smart colour on the V5 references the colour of the safety cell (tridion) rather than the colour of the body panels.

Very confusing! (well not really......)
