**How Rare is the 5 Ltr Chim**

I know this has probably been covered before but how many 5 Ltr Chims do you think TVR produced compared to 5 Ltr Griffs?

I would think the Chim is rarer but exact production numbers have been hard to find out..

I think it tells you an estimated figure for all models in the "bible". If not there then I saw it somewhere else!

The Bible gives total Chimaera Production but sadly not a breakdown of engine types......500-600 sounds about right though which would makes it approximately three times rare than Griff 500.

Being a lover of all TVR's, my view was that the only difference in a Chim 500 and a Griff 500 is that the Griff has a shorter wheelbase, Obviously different shape and a bit of a firmer ride than a chim....?

and same engine of course. The only real difference between the Chim 500 and the Griff 500 hinges around the previously alluded to golf clubs!

If I remember correctly TVR fitted a better specced engine in the Griffith 500. In fact an engine specced to Griffith 500 standard was an optional extra in the Chimaera 500. I believe it was BigM who has a TVR brochure giving the details. Perhaps BigM could comment?

TVR Power in Coventry might want to comment on the "better specced 500 in the Griff" claim. From what I know all the purple headed engines were the same spec, and engines for the Griff and Chim 500 all came out of the same shed at Blackpool.

All the brochures I've ever seen have the engines rated the same - but as pointed out already, neither produce the claimed 340bhp.

They probably did - on a dyno, with no ancillaries and with cold air being blasted into the intake manifold.

Depends on which years you compare as well as it took some time for the Chim 500 and Griff 500 to come together and they still had slight differences in the suspension department.

Every car they made had different ride heights....

PS the wheel base is the same BTW.
