To buy or not to buy?
Discussion
I've been pondering for a while now, and would value any imput from the crew. Not wanting to get into any brand snobbery blah blah!.. but I do think this is a handsome piece....less is more and all that...!

You'll have to explain to me why that is better than the Citizen Eco-drive that looks exactly the same.
Or the IWC Portofino that has a similar style. Or the one in Argos that would look the same if you removed the second hand with a pair of tweezers.

Sports watches especially in SS seem to be odd when worn by older gentlemen?
Oi! I'm only forty firkin four...
but as you suggest one would be unlikely to 'catch a cold' with this...it should never depreciate below the 5k mark and can only realy appreciate in value.
If you got 2/3rds your money back if you needed to sell quickly , how bad would that be?
You've owned and had pleasure from one of the worlds finest timepieces, all be it not an especially rare or complicated one.

How about for starters, the PP is made of solid gold....

I dislike it. Gold case with a gold face is a no no for me.
Much much more elegant stuff out there for that sort of cash.
I say this as younger man than you OP.
Like everyone always says though, if you like it, buy it. I doubt you will lose out if you decide to sell it in a few years time.

If that really is the case then it seems a bit of a no-brainer to me. If you like it that much, can afford it and can justify to yourself that you'll get enough wrist time for the money (however much time that is) then there doesn't appear to be a reason why you shouldn't go for it.Very smart looking watch by the way, never really 'got' the minimal style of wristwatch myself until recently.
It's not really my cup of tea ... If you're after a dress watch with style for £5K, I'd be looking at the JLC Reverso range. This is the Reverso Grande Date with 8 day power reserve, which is currently up for sale at £4,950:
