I'm thinking of going this year and staying in Rome during the event week. Has anyone done the same? How much action do you see?

hi, i went to tuscany last year to watch the race, the cars left rome at 6 am , and started to arrive in our village around 9am. first through was the ferrari parade then came the milie miglia cars, took about 4 hrs in total to pass through .
all at walking pace, there was a time check on the way out of village.
