What is it with setting up networks!

I've been having real hassle over the last two days with PC's not seeing each other and no web access etc.

Then after a period of time suddenly they spring into action and the new drives appear in network places when you havn't done anything. Is there anything that happens evry hour or so to cause this?

Try straightening the cables, sounds like the 1s are getting stuck on the corners but the 0s slip through.

Seriousoly though, what kind of network? Client OS? Server OS? DHCP,WINS,DNS? etc

Microsoft networking is notorious for it. The clients browse the networks looking for other clients.

Could be a fault in whatever hub or switch you are using?
