Can anyone translate these for me please? Car in question is a '97 540i/6.


DDE - 139 Activation, map cooling

Instrument Cluster - D7 Fuel tank sensor 2 (without fuel pump)

HKL - 31 air volume control wheel

LCM - 40 thermal oil level sensor

Any idea what the cause of them is?

139 is the electric thermostat (map controlled cooling)

Fuel tank level float sensor, probably the passenger side, but look under the rear seat, and the thingy with one plug is the level sender, the one with 2 plugs is the level sender and pump.

31 and 40 - carsoft always tends to throw those up, it means the aircon panel fan speed dial, but often shows this on cars without aircon!
the 40 for the LCM is the oil level sender, it's thermal, so heat up and check how much it is cooled by the oil around it, and would warn for low oil.

It often breaks, so keep an eye on the dipstick instead.
