Me and a couple of friends were looking at this with quite serious consideration to do in 2012.

Has anybody on here done it? If they have and would be able to give some general advice regarding costs/getting visas etc, I would be much appreciative biggrin

A friend did it in 2004 or 05 in a FIAT Panda (too old for the event now). His most significant issue was running out of time so make sure you have a good margin in hand.

I'm considering taking a career break of 6 months to do it in 2013, then take some time to come back.

Do a search on here for Rach* and her mongol rally threads, IIRC she also has a website documenting it all.

I did it in '05. 6 of us in 3 pandas back when it was a bit wilder. It was pretty much go wild and see you for cocktails in Ulaan Bataar then.

Lost my website after forgetting to pay the fees frown But have started a blog! Complete with photos, does still need alot of writing but here you go

We did it in just under 5 weeks, quickest team was 8 days - but what do you see rushing through??

Visa costs really depends on the route, you could do the whole trip mega-cheap camping, eating locally etc etc

We had a blast, I spent about £2-3k hehe oops.
