looking at ebay I noticed loads of cars thatdon't sell and they keep being relisted a few weeks later, makes me think private sales are dying out and garages are doing well.my neighbour could't shift his tidy 04 shogun di-d for £7500,sold it to local dealer for £7000 now dealer has it up for......

Not greedy at all.

If you don't want to pay what they have offered to sell the car to you then walk away.

Car prices are very volatile and far from set in stone.
If somebody is prepared to pay what they want to sell for then the price is spot on.

If you feel it should be cheaper, offer that price and walk away.

What exactly were you expecting?

Dealers have to make a profit. There's more to it than just the price to change, that's far from all profit.

Quite simple really.Sell your SLK private for around £3500.Go to auction and buy what you now want, at around £1000-£1500 off the screen price of the cheaper motors listed above...

The prices quoted in the OP are laughable. Is Wales stuck in some time warp ?
