Which one next???

The Sagaris would be a bit of a stretch financially, but would the stretch be worth it?

Would I find the 1.8 Toyota engine of the Exige too dull ( coming from. Cerb )?

Car to be for Sunny day hoons & trackdays.

Thoughts welcome

The Lotus! I've done the Tiv's and loved them but the Loti is the only motor I've ever had, that I just can't stop thinking about when I'm not driving it. biggrin

Cheers for the response. Probably my biggest concern is missing the big engine. How did you get on??

Sagaris!

If not for it's looks or performance then as an investment!

Sagaris values are going up, the same cant be said for the Exige.

It may be a stretch but at least your money will be, relatively, safe.

If money is no concern then test drive both and see which you prefer.

Good luck.

Assuming you are going for the supercharged Toyota lump then you won't find it slow but it may feel a little sanitised compared to what you are used to.

That said, an Exige is pretty well the perfect trackday car and a total joy to drive cool.

It's got to be a Sagaris, I can't get in a Lotus without something nearly being dislodged.
There's a nice Orange Sag coming up for sale in our region very soon.

In the context of track days, noise abatement means that you will probably have far more options as to days that you can actually attend in the Lotus...

I miss the V8 sound track but don't miss the fuel costs, who buys a sports car to drive conservatively all of the time?
There's less room in the loti but I never put anything in the Tiv anyway.
I like the feeling of confidence I get when walking towards the Loti in public, knowing it wil start, both my Griff's suffered from heat soak.
Sitting in The Loti feels like a sense of purpose, the Griff feels grand, and a lot more comfortable.
I'm returning to Nice this year and will take my Lotus, I would not have taken either of my Griffs. That's just me!

In short, so far the lotus is the best car I've had.

I test drove an Elise R then a super charged, I spent a bit more and had a super.

You should go and drive a few, dealers are normally keen to let you.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

Cheers guys, I had thought of Noble, & it is currently my third choice.

Hi Kev, any details of your local Sag ( it's certainly the right colour!! )?? Cheers

Does anyone know how to get an Exige to sound mean?? ( stage 2 exhaust I've heard is the way, don't know what one is though )

A mate has a Sagaris but stopped taking it to track days ages ago because it almost always tests over 100 db, and very difficult to bolt on extra cans because of the exhaust design.

If you're doing more road than track work, still worth considering as there are just about enough 'noisy' track days for you to be able to have some fun. If you're more interested in the track, go for the Exige - will be bloody fast right out of the box on most tracks, and will stand up to track use much better than a TVR.

I havent owned a TVR, but stretching to afford a track car is a bit mad IMHO. If you must consider the TVR take into consideration that it will use more petrol, tyres, brakes than the Exige although the S/C ones are pretty thirsty on track.

As to which is best on track I havent the foggiest I have a cheap S1 track car, although completed 20 laps in an Exige S PP last March at The Ring, one word superb!

would have been interesting to see what lap time the Sagaris could have done on a warm day with trackday tyres, smile

Cheers for all the input.

I do like the idea of quick out the box, & not having to listen out nervously for any new rattles or clunks.

Have to say, my Cerb has been amazing & given nearly 9 years service without any real problems. So I do know a TVR is perfectly capable.

Then, on the other hand, I quite fancy a change.

I suppose, I just need to go out & see some cars.

The Sagaris is the sensible shout for depreciation, rarity and general presense. Make sure you get the correct diff and gearbox with it....

I've not driven an Exige, but the first track day I was on, I came up against some modified Loti. By the end of the day I was on their pace, so horses for courses. You won't be disappointed either way.

If you do go Sagaris, then pop into the forum down the page, and say hello. We're a good bunch (really).

Good call, with a good full meat S engine in a Sag you need the 3.4 diff and standard box unless you like go cart tracks, and especially if you ever think of upgrading the engine to a 4.3/4.5 speed six.

3.4 if you have the cooking 4.0. If you're going FFF mk2 or 4.5, then you need the 3.7 (apparently).

Cheers Don. I do love the idea of continuing with TVR, had over 10 years of the marque, & have been a fan for over 20. It's just the apparent residuals of the Sagaris that's doing me at the moment!! But then, i know comparatively nothing about Lotus....!
