renting - electricity bill
Discussion
I will be moving in to my first rented flat in a few weeks, it includes gas bill but not electric.
I know the amount of electric used varies from person to person and on the property, but can anyone give me some sort of rough guide on how much it could be?
Its a 1 bedroom flat occupied by myself, i will be at work in the daytime so i will only be there in the evenings.
Only thing is, the flat had a coin electric meter which takes £1 coins. Has anyone got any experiance of these? In terms of value, how does it compare to getting a bill?

Big energy uses are water heating and space heating. If these (and the cooking) are done with gas then chances are the biggest electrical load will be the fridge.
Fit eco light bulbs, don't leave things on standby (including phone chargers) and the electric use should be under 6kW hours a day - hopefully about a pound.

I have a 1 bed flat with a pre-payment meter (key, rather than coins) and use just over £20 per month, without trying to be frugal at all (PC on when I'm out, lights on in most rooms when I'm home, etc).
That being said, if you are heating or cooking with electricity then expect it to be a lot higher.
