London Winter Run-around
Discussion
Hi All,
I am organising a little supercar meetup on the morning of Sunday 6th February in central London. It will be a day to get the cars together, go for a little drive around town (what I like to call 'sensible fun', nothing stupid but just lots of nice cars together) and take a few photographs and help get a little bit of a fix from not having such a thing planned since last summer!
All timings, routes, locations will not be made public, so please e-mail me at ph @ tibuco.com if you are interested with what car you'd like to bring along. The route is planned and will be good fun, I'm hoping to make a more regular occurrence of it, perhaps monthly in summer and bi-monthly the rest of the year.
The cars involved so far are listed below (and I will update the list in due course) but you can gauge the type of cars I'm hoping to be involved; all F/M/L/B etc type cars are definitely accepted, outside of that please ask in an e-mail.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster
Audi R8 V8
Mercedes SLS AMG
Porsche 997 GT3
Ferrari F355 F1
Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT
Porsche 996 GT3
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Bristol Fighter
Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT
RUF 997 R Kompressor
Audi R8 V8
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Ferrari F430 Spider
Morgan Aero 8
Audi R8 V10 Spyder
Porsche 997 S
Lamborghini Diablo RWD
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster
Lamborghini LP670SV
Ferrari 360 Coupe
Lamborghini Gallardo
TVR Tuscan S
Lamborghini Diablo RWD
Mosler MT900
Porsche 996 GT2
Mitsubishi GTO
Ferrari 360 Spider
Ferrari 512TR
Aston Martin V8V N420 Roadster
Lamborghini Gallardo SE
Audi R8 V8
Ferrari F430 Coupe
I didn't want to put this in the standard events forum because I'm hoping to keep it a small affair; and of course strictly keep it to top end cars.
Thanks and hope to hear from some of you!
Tim

What pleasure is there in driving supercars around Central London? Maybe good for your ego but not driving pleasure.
It's more about the socialising, and just having fun together. I guess if you lived in London you'd probably appreciate where I'm coming from - that it's actually quite entertaining.I like seeing the smiles on the faces of other people when groups of nice cars drive by together, of course you can't drive eleventy-billion miles per hour but there are plenty of other events for that. It can't be that awful or on a previous tunnel run the 250 cars that turned up to must have seen something in it!
I appreciate you're not coming, but others may want to - similar previous events have been a success.

Why don't you meet in c.London, and figure a route outside of London.
Will attract more people and will be much more fun.
Driving a supercar around town just makes you look like a tw@t, especially in a large group.
Also if I recall correctly if there is a certain number you must inform the police.
Contact Angelis, he usually organises these c.London poses.

You didn't upset me, merely giving you some feedback.
How old are you? :s
I think I upset the other guy, but was surprised you said "you look like a tw@t" though, anyway not important. How old are you? :s
I am looking into where we could head out of town slightly to open up a bit more

I'll never understand what on earth is with Pistonheads and the ridiculous amount of sniping at each other that takes place! Can't we all be nice and happy?!

It's true though, driving in convoy in central London is not the greatest of things to do and no fun really, you just sit in slow moving traffic making noise and not going very far.
Haha, Certainly wouldn't sgree with that. Just depends what time your prepared to go for a little drive!threesixty said:

Haha, Certainly wouldn't sgree with that. Just depends what time your prepared to go for a little drive!Did a run round town organised by Angelis last summer, was great fun. Socialise with other owners, have a poke around lots of other rare cars, make some noise in tunnels, brighten up tourists' days, improve your knowledge of London navigation.....I've got no problem with it
If you're worried about looking like a tw@t, that's your own business. Personally, I couldn't give a cr@p, life's too short. I've had nothing but positive attention from people in my F355, and those that are going to hate would do so whatever

We attended this too; it was a cracking morning and was nice to not have to drive the arse off the car! Plus the engine and exhaust notes sound fantastic in town when surrounded by all the big buildings!
