I get about 400 miles for £75 at the moment - i reckon therefore by commuting on my bike today i've saved £7.13 in petrol, £6 in car parking and £0.60 in toll fees. Total saved today £13.73, £3431 a year (or it would be if i never wimped out and went in the car...).
So how are the rest of you doing?
Should I point this out in the general gassing section?

I had a spread-sheet that attempted to calculate the true benefits vs. commuting by train, taking into account my ACTUAL bike spend.
So it included the extra cost of commuting once in a while vs. season ticket and cost of bike consumables: tyres, tubes, chains, sprockets, lube, batteries, new lumo clothes, CTC insurance, muc-off etc...
Vs. a monthly zone 1-4 travel card I saved £600-ish over a year.
13% of my potential bike commutes were by train instead, mostly owing to the weather or insurmountably painful hangovers.
If you are normally driving you would have to adjust for the fact that the depreciation, insurance, tax is that much higher on all your OTHER car trips since you don't use the car for commuting much any more, which can often kill your depreciation etc.../mile charge on a typical PH-wagon.
Although I guess most of us would keep our cars and consider those costs fixed no matter how much it cost!
