Scottish Ultra 2011

No, not that bad and you go at your own pace with generous cut-offs. 5 days is long though and you are allowed 4kg (total) of food forwarded for you to the night halts but you carry everything else. As long as you don't pick up an injury you should be ok.
It's a similar idea to the 155 mile marathon des sables and quite a few will use it as a beat-up event.
It's still 5 marathons in 5 days so not to be taken too lightly but as with the mds, admin is key.
It's a bit cheaper too...

Do you have to carry all your own water or is it provided at stopping points? Also is it camping or in hostals at night (just thinking of what you have to carry) I´m not interested in running this, just interested in the mechanics of how you go about it
Water is provided at checkpoints (but there's an abundance in sunny Scotland anyway) - you'll probably average 1kg of water overall. The overnight stop is in pre-set tents (Vango 6 berth) so you have to carry:Do you have to carry all your own water or is it provided at stopping points? cooking/eating set
sleep kit (bag & mat)
clothing - for an unpredictable climate so wet &dry incl. Waterproofs
compulsary stuff like whistle, knife, medical, torch, fags, compass etc
plus stuff like hydration tabs, brew kit, sunglasses, gels etc
All-in-all I reckon a packweight of about 7-8kg consistant.
