Hi,

I'm in need of changing the rear tyres on my 130i (245-35-18 bridgestone runflats) and am thinking I might as well change to non runflats. This would involve replacing the fronts as well (215-40-18).

I can't make my mine up on what to buy! I have looked at Falkens for previous cars and the wimped out of it and bought Goodyear GSD3's or F1 Assys.

I am going to change to 225-40-18 (fronts) and 255-35-18 on the rears.....

Price wise:

Falkens come out at £370.60 (not fitted)

Goodyear F1 Assys come out at £546 (not fitted)

Goodyear Assy (front) and GSD3's rear come out at £498. Would this combo work ok?

Any advise as I just go around in circles!

Thanks in Advance

Would certainly not want to mix two different models front/rear, so whatever you get please get a full set.

Michelin PS2 or the new PS3 (which is not as performance oriented as the PS2) may be worth a look too.

Are you sure those widths are correct? I thought the 130i had 205 fronts and 225 rears?

I did exactly the same on my 130. Pirelli Nero's then as set of GSD3. Both transformed the car over RF's.

The earlier models had those narrower sizes (and the rear wheels were 8" instead of 8.5" of the later cars). Most people suggest that the ED FL cars brought in the change, but I have a FL car which had the narrower wheels/tyres fitted.

Anyhow, last month I made the change from runflats to Continental SportContact2 N2 (225/40/18 all round) and have been very pleased with the results so far.

The rears are stretched but not to the Euro look.

Its acceptable, but you obviously have to watch out when parking, which i found out the hard way!

Right I,ve decided to go with Goodyear Assymetrics as I,ve had them on a previous cars and have always been happy enough!

I'm going with 225-40-18 92Y XL up front and 255x35x18 94Y XL at the rear.

Just want to double check that the load ratings are ok being different i.e. 92 and 94?

Thanks in advance!

I have Falken FK452 225-40-18 92Y XL all round on mine. Getting rid of the staggered setup gets rid of the "for the masses" understeer
