mods - posting in the lounge due to date of travel. noone reads holidays etc.

anyway. i'm heading down to london tomorrow night. weds morning is planned up until 11-12ish but my cheapskate return ticket means i have to wait until after 6pm to come back home.

i'm a frequent visitor to london but have never had to pass the time on my own. any suggestions what i can do besides needlessly spend money on shiny things?

Most London museums are free.

Imperial War Museum
National Army Museum
Science Museum
Natural History Museum
Museum Of London

Any of these should satisfy a bloke's interest for an afternoon.

Wonder around a little, take new sights in, window shop. There's all sorts of places.

Erm, heard that one is able to try lifting (not stealing) a heavy bar of gold in Bank of England museum.

Good tour of Harrods and grab some food in there.

Science and natural history museums always good despite going often.

Walk from covent garden to somewhere like trafalgar square stopping for a few on the way lol.

Going to have to book me a trip down there again soon lol.

Treat yourself to a magnificent extended lunch at somewhere like Ramsays in Chelsea or Le Gavroche in Mayfair - they all have fab & cheaper lunch menus

i was thinking of something food based but i was thinking small and ethnic. not really one for visiting museums solo. was thinking of going to the boatshow but again i would find it a bit dull on my own.

Go to Sotherbys (other auction houses are available), register for a paddle and go milf-hunting.

Its much better visiting them solo. Going with wife/gf just means they get bored and badger you to leave every five minutes. Go to the IWM if you have even a passing interest in war/military history.

Indeed. It's surprisingly heavy - there's only a small gap that you put your hand in to lift it up.
I go to various museums on my rare visits to London. I get the cheap one day travelcard, but you can't leave London for the return trip between IIRC 4.30pm-7pm. Wouldn't that be the same for yours as well? or have they changed the rules again?
