Sorry too much money. You could but a very nice gtr for that with not many miles on the clock.

A recent article in a jap performance mag put the Evo X FQ-400 in front… Also, that hatch back styling – I just cannot accept it, especially now we have an imminent salon body shape on the cards…

I like the car, I don't like the price. I don't like the fact it's not a significantly better drive than the normal STi hatch either. All that money and Cosworth still couldn't come up with something better than the RS500?

Exactly... or an Evo... Subaru have made a mistake creeping up a rung on price point... They should not also have attempted to age their product with their users, as that’s also terminal (but I guess does not matter if you figure the petrol car is terminal anyway)…

Agreed. The list price of this car is too high.

Even as a Subaru diehard, £50k is far to close to R35 territory to even consider the CS400 for me. That and it's already a 2 year old car minimum...regardless of the Cosworth involvement.

Didn't every magazine that ever drove it think it was rubbish?

I was hoping these things would be hanging around in showrooms waiting to be snapped up with nice discounts frown

Well they are certainly waiting around to be snapped up yes....but without the discounts.
Subaru claimed they had all been presold, but then they started turning up at dealers for sale, then the Subaru loyal started getting mailers, & emails advertising "the last few left"...yeah right. Freely available if you want one, just Subaru are too stubborn (or have too much invested) to discount.

Did they? I thought they liked it, just didn't think it was quite as good as they'd expected.

A bit soft compared to the more focused Evo was the outcome of one review I read (Jap car mag - cannt remember the name)... However, is that not the general feedback that the hatch gets? The hatch is a 3 year black hole in the range - lets just all forget about it and look forward to the over priced 2011 salon...

Two iconic names. And a massive missed opportunity.

UK reviews seem to think that - with NZ models its the Evo that gets slated a bit for being too soft, heavy and dynamically compromised in comparison to the STI. Funny how things change in different markets.
