Hi all - I haven't had my M3 very long - a few thousand miles.

I've noticed that if I dip the clutch (fast) when slow manoeuvring there is a fairly hefty clunk from the drive train.........

should I be concerned that this is a known issue? or do other peoples car do that?

it's a 57 plate.....v8

cheers!

It's not uncommon on the E92 M3's. You'll experience knocking more frequently on concrete (car park) surfaces or on wet tarmac when manoeuvring slowly.

BMW report it as a characteristic of the car but I've also heard of them changing the fluid in the rear diff to reduce the noise. Mine is a 57 plate (now 65k from new) and it's never bothered me enough to have the fluid changed.

If your only getting the noise on depressing the clutch it could be the clutch release bearing has gone but more likely to be the above.

Good luck.

Fantastic - thanks for putting my mind at rest. You know what it's like when you get a new (second hand) car. The noises always concern !
