Horseradish Please

Do any of you budding gardeners grow your own horseradish?
I was given a root last year but it rotted after I planted it.
I have just been looking at buying some more but @ £10-£15 for a few roots I thought I would try & sponge some from one of you lot
Happy to pay postage etc.
Has to be worth a try don't you think?

Used to grow as a weed in lots of places but as an idea if you have any abandoned allotment sites near you then you will almost certainly find horseradish if you look around. The allotment holders always plant this and mint in corners of their plots.

If you are going to forage some from disused allotments, just make damned sure you can tell horseradish from monkshood - foliage is not alike, but roots are similar and people have died in the past after mixing them up.

If you do get it going,you'll never be without again.

Dug ours out a couple of years ago,I can't believe it's such a price,have look in the garden centre if you can't get some given.

If ytou think mint spreads uncontrollably try horseradish. Plant it in your back garden and it can send roots under the house and popup in the frint garden.

It will be kept in a large pot.....just like the mint.
