thanks carol.
It is hard to tell from the photos what is required. The spokes were originally powdercoated body colour with alloy polished rims. The wheels can be blasted with plastic beads then powder coated and polished. Just how bad are they? The 350 is made from many cars plus a lot of stuff made by TVR themselves.
Put the
away woman, you won't be needing that on here!
If you need to know it, someone on here can tell you.
For example....
The wheels are basically the same 5-stud pattern as Ford Granada. However, the 'offset' of the wheels is different, so although you may find alternative wheels that appear to fit, they may foul the wheelarches or suspension due to being closer in or further out from the hubs.
You can have the wheels blasted and powder-coated (any colour you like!); various places offer this service and it's about £25-£40 a wheel (cheaper than new wheels though!).
As for which other cars you can rob for spares, I presume you mean at the breakers? Depending on what you need, it's sometimes just as cheap and easy to ring a TVR dealers, believe it or not (Harrogate Horseless Carriages is probably your closest) - although they are tending to support the Wedge cars less as time goes by. Don't bother ringing the factory, they are about as much help as a chocolate kettle.
For engine service items, Rover or Landrover dealers are useful, or even your local motor factors. The Rover V8 was bog-standard in the 350i so normal consumables are OK.
Halfords are generally regarded as a joke by TVR owners.
There are a few specialists aound the place now who you may need to call for stuff like hoods, exhaust systems etc.
A few of the more common 'where's that from'...
Steering column - depends on year, could be Rover SD1. Early Wedges used TR7; also heard of Allegro
column being used.
Dash switches: TR7, Austin Princess. Rimmer Bros. in Lincoln keep these.
Outer door handles: Mk 3 Cortina, Mk. 2 Escort.
Headlight motors: TR7. Rimmers again, or ask around on here; a few of us keep spares!
Taillights: depends on year. Capri, Rover SD1, Renault Fuego.
Front sidelights: probably Renault 12.
Engine and gearbox: standard Rover SD1.
Differential: as used on Jaguar XJ6.
Brakes front: Granada Mk 2. Rear: Jag XJ6 again.
Wheel bearings: rear Granada Mk2, front Granada or Cortina 4, I forget which.
Steering rack: one of a selection depending on who TVR could bribe the least
Possibly Cortina 4. Some were TVR modified.
Exhaust: TVR special, several versions available, plenty of copies out there.
Unleaded: yes. MPG:
like we give a
?
How's that to be going on with?
