My girlfriend has offered to get me a driving experience day for my Birthday in March so I've tried to do a bit of research into which would be best but I'm finding it difficult to sift through all the marketing crap on sites to find out the facts about what the day will cover.

Basically i'm looking for somewhere not too far from the midlands where i'll get the most actual track time rather than having my day padded out with videos etc. not too fussed what the cars are but would obviously want them to be quicker than the cars i own, think i'd want to spend upto £250, am i budgeting enough?

any help would be most appreciated.....

6th gear are meant to be good.

Or if you fancy something different get in touch with Dave at Uniquetrackdays. Bought my Dad an experience with him and it was a great day. smile

I guess it depends on your experience. I few years ago I did a Ferrari experience which was just blatting a selection of Ferraris in a straight line up a runway - I thought it was fab then, but having now owned a Porsche and got into the trackday thing it would be no big deal. I also won a place on one of the supercar experience day things last year, and it was amazing how slow everyone was driving - and yet having a great time - the guy in the transit was matching the pace - yet the experience of being in a Lambo or whatever was so spectacular people were still in sensory overload.
Personally I'm thinking of a Caterham drift or slalom day this year which I think would be fun whatever you're coming from, and would be on your budget - see their main website.

cheers guys,

Have found this which looks pretty good value for money http://www.6thgearexperience.com/xmas-offers-c-17/... and also this http://www.driversdreamdays.co.uk/special-offers/3...

essentially i just want to have a blast round a track in someone elses car for under £200 these ones seem good value

would anyone recommend a specific venue? Bruntingthorpe seems a popular location on the sites i've researched so far

The one I did I think was with 6th Gear, and was at Prodrive near Kenilworth - its a good track -and very professionally organised, they do try and sell you other stuff on the day (insurance, photos, extra laps) but no hard sell.

Brunt is good as it probably has the highest top speed potential of any of these events, I've had drivers doing over 150 when instructing there.

If you want a proper race circuit and all ARDS instructors then try Oulton Park in the M3s and single seaters.
