GT tracking problem
Discussion
I think all Alfas do tend to wear the inside of the front tyres quickly, but 10k is much too short - I'd be surprised if the front end of your GT is very much different from our 147 Ducati Corse, and when we had all four tyres replaced at 11.5k as part of the Pirelli recall there was still loads of tread left.
If I were you, I'd get another dealer or specialist to look at it - 10k doesn't sound right at all. There was a problem with early 159 and Brera settings, but they issued revised settings which pretty much solved it.

Thanks.
She's had the tracking set so we'll how far it goes now.
The OH has worked out that she has had 3 sets of tyres on the front and 1 set on the rear in 38k - that, and it averages 37mpg which for a diesel doesn't seem very good. She does drive it like a GT should be but it's getting expensive to run

Thanks Rick - i understand what you mean but the last set of fronts ran down to the canvas on the very inner edge and the outside edges had 3-4mm left so we knew there was a tracking/toe problem - i suggested caused by potholes
She does mixed a/b road and motorway as well as town.
We'll see in 6 months how this goes.
Just looked at your garage, what mpg do you get on your diesels?

In very approx terms high 20s on the Brera and the Mrs gets about 37 on her 147 - but we live somewhere very steep and hilly with lots of traffic! My 156 2.4 used to do mid-30s.
Back to your tyres, if you are getting that kind of wear it is the tracking and it would be worth getting the toe-out adjusted to near zero. If the tyre place has just used the normal settings it won't be any better I'm afraid.

Thanks for that, gives me a better idea of real world examples - what she is getting is probably about right.RicksAlfas said:

Yep, it was the tyre place that suggested that the normal settings would be wrong so hopefully they have set it up as we need it to be.Thanks for you help guys
