Pistonheads meet - Friday June 10th 2011

The time has come to think about planning this meet again, and your input is needed. For the last two years we have run it at Mulsanne, but the parking is a problem and so I am thinking of changing the venue this year. So, the first that comes to mind is The Bounty, where many camp, and it is a couple of miles south of Mulsanne. Steak & Guinness pies with chips and London Pride would be on the menu and plenty of space.

The second venue would be at Arnage, not far north of the Super U supermarket in the industrial area at a super restaurant, but not an expensive one, and a decor of photos from the 1950s/60s of photos of Le Mans. Here we'd run a buffet and again there is plenty of parking available.

Both have outdoor tables and cover, there isn't a great deal in price between the two.

So, this is your meet and your decision, so let's have some input please. There is no rush, but I shall be booking it up around April and dotting the T's and i's at that time. Let's be hearing from you!

Search for Le Bounty and you will see the web site.

I agree that parking in Mulsanne is a problem when everybody arrives at the same time but nice bar and good food.
I suggested the Bounty last year but some of those staying there were not keen to go back for lunch, but given the numbers that attend I think they are in the minority (sorry to all the 7 drivers)

As the CBW is celebrating Jaguar would it not be easier to hold it on your front lawn and save all the driving around

They might not have been keen to return to Le Bounty for lunch as we did not do lunches lol.

If you guys decide on Le Bounty I can promise you all a warm welcome and great food. Our pies are made for us not those things called pies with mincemeat ours contain real chunks of meat.

We will also put on a outside bar with our usual cold 1164 on draft and hand pumped London Pride.

Given that we're planning on a liesurely lunch somewhere south of Le Mans on the Friday, here's another vote for The Bounty.

I have a cunning plan. Why not get a 'Pistonheads meet' flag done. Could put it on the already large board Shaun has, which is placed close to the RN138. That way with all the flow of traffic up and down that road, more people (more punters in his bar), more flash motors !! Have to have some signs done too. A bit like on the way into Saint Saturnin for CBW. This is for the Bounty venue by the way.

Is there additional parking at Le Bounty? I only ask as 2yr ago when I camped there, there was only enough parking for the guests, let alone any visitors. The PH meet last yr was very, very busy, so just checking how much room there would be at Le Bounty for us all... Is there an extra field somewhere?

I am sure lawdrag would not have put Le Bounty up for this event unless he was confident parking would not be a problem. Not only do we have a very large car park (which has been busy but never full at an event) there is additional parking along the side road and we will be negotiating for additional parking. We will if the need arises have a car park attendant.

Ive stayed at the bounty the last four years and can vouch for how good the place is and would cope very well with the pistonheads meeting there. As John says parking is not an issue as the service road is large enough to take a few cars.
The food is very good and so is the drink...................its a shame its a nice place and also a gem that you try n keep to yourself!

My vote would be for Le Bounty. The Arnage area, whilst I like it a lot, seems in recent years to have spawned some of the problems which have resulted in the circuit being closed from Mulsanne to Arnage corners on Fridays. Therefore my vote goes for Le Bounty, and I look forward to this meet as a very appropriate sequel to St. Saturnin. There - that's my Friday booked up!My thanks to the sterling work done by Lowdrag (and no doubt others)to bring about these meets which I enjoy so much.

Le Bounty is the best by far, I Have stayed here and can honestly say there is ample parking, facilities and a beautiful setting to boot.

The food was amazing and the hospitality equally ss, Guys this place is the ideal location in my opinion.

My vote would be for Le Bounty on the basis that I would be keen to see it for potential future year's camping.

It would be nice if there could be an alternate to the steak pie though, something like a tuna salad or baguettes or omelettes. Something not quite so heavy

I'm sure a sandwich will be in order for you Al - in fact I'll make certain - but my intention was to give an idea as to what I am planning. I assure you that there are other things in the mix for this year, but I am not able to say exactly what at the moment. I just thought that a pint of London Pride and a pie and chips would give the Le Mans virgins a true taste of the cuisine of la belle France

However, I do hope someone will start a sticky so we can get an idea of numbers.

Can I first of all say many thanks to all of you for the fantastic response for holding this event at Le Bounty.
We did plan to put on an alternative meal such as a salad and a French bread sandwich. Providing we have an idea of the numbers and a pre-order system then it wont be a problem.
There is no such thing as a problem only a solution lol

For this meet I'd be keen to possibly come along. I go with quite a mixed group of die-hard Le Maners through to last year a 10-week old baby and her 5 year old sister. Assuming they're all up for it would they be welcome albeit they're not in to pistonheads?

This a meeting for all the visitors to Le Mans, children included. You will be very welcome. I would advise you to come in the early afternoon, since it is St. Saturnin in the morning and I won't be there until 2pm at the earliest. Look forward to seeing you there.
