I have had my c63 for since march and have racked up around 21k miles.It got the performance pack, with 19" allows which fit a 255/30/19 tyre. No LSD. I drive the car in comfort mode 95% of the time. I don't think I have ever had the back end out and only use the gears for overtaking really. Admittedly I have indulged a little more recently, which probably explains part of the story below. Still - no burnouts or rally stage esque driving.
I have replaced the tyres twice, with the stock continental conti sport 3's. I have tried to get hold of the contisport 5's both times, but can't seem to find stock. I ordered them over tyreshopper.co.uk for the first change only to see the 3's fitted when I got home. Not a big deal as the price was the same on both.
The first set of tyres lasted 9k miles, which was fine and expected to be honest. The second set probably only did 7k. This was due to a puncture on one - which ironically had quite a bit of tread and the other rear being completely nuked. I changed the tyres in November and have since covered 4-5k and they are at the end of their life again. This is quite frustrating as I left the car in the garage for 3 weeks when it was snowing and drove my range rover instead.
I'm not expecting to drive an AMG car and crank out 20k miles on a set of tyres, but something that lasts a little longer would be nice, even if its a more expensive tyre. My brother has a GTR which is 15k miles in and has a long way to go before he needs fresh rubber. Similarly, my old man drives a DB9 which has 9k miles on the clock and the tyres looked unused (bridgestones i think), despite being thrashed more than my c63. We also have an sl63 with around 5k on the clock, on continental tyres which don't seem too warn either. His company car is a Cl500 and that seems to do 15-20k on rear tyres as well.
So after my life story - what tyres should I invest in? Does everyone here stick with the stock setup of continental's or have you switched to a new brand hoping for better mileage? I'm half tempted to buy some bridgestones. They seem to last on the db9 so logically they would hold up similarly on my c63?

i just hope each time you have new tyres you have all the alignment of the car checked? with the state of the roads at the moment i'm expecting my tyres to end there life a bit earlier this time round!
obvious things like checking the wheels are completely true, pressures and then driving style etc etc.
other then that i would imagine any tyre of a decent quality is going to be a soft compoud.......

There is a detailed thread on this over at mbclub.co.uk however the consensus is that the Contisport 5P tyres are lasting at least twice as long as the Contisport 3s. All new C63 Estates are fitted with the 5ps as standard from the factory, saloons still seem to get the 3's.
I have a C63 Estate with the 5P's and changed my rears just after 10,000 miles and that was with some pretty hard driving and backend action, overall I am pleased with the wear rate. Downside is they do seem to transmit a bit more road noise.

My C63 went through rear Conti's 3's in about 8k miles - the Conti 5's that I replaced them with had 6mm on the car when I sold it 12k miles so the 5's definitely wear much better! The 5's also perform a lot better with more grip, especially in the wet.
Just be glad your car didn't have Yokohama Advan Sports fitted - the 2008/09 model year C63's had these fitted and my first C63 was one of these. I got a touch over 4k miles out of a rear set...a very soft tyre indeed!
