Break between July and august

After having no holiday for five years, I am starting to think I am long overdue a decent break.

My other half fancies somewhere like Mexico/Barbados/Maldives for a week to ten days, which I'm really not opposed to.

However, is this the right time of year for these places? I'm thinking rainy season or unbearable heat.

I have a budget of around 3-3.5k for the two of us.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that would be relaxing and not involve a scramble for a sun lounger at 7am every morning.
