e36/5 318ti - exhaust recommendations?

OK so the back box on my beloved 318ti is on its way out so I am thinking of replacing either just the back box or the whole exhaust if I can find something half-decent that isn't overpriced.
Already I find the car is quite loud at motorway speeds (partially due to the M44 running at 4 - 4.5k revs when cruising/overtaking) so although I don't mind a bit more growl when hoofing it I want to steer clear of anything that drones - I've heard Scorpion are the worst for this.
At some point I will probably sort out a chip tune and induction kit so ideally I am looking for something that will bring me a few extra ponies when combined with these but in the short term my main concern is build quality, not attracting too much undue attention and not drowning out all attempts at conversation on long motorway trips. My budget's probably around £250... anyone got any hints and/or tips?
