I'm going to an event at York Hall on Saturday evening and fancied a curry. Not being from around those parts, a quick look at the map revealed Brick Lane to be fairly close. However, looking at the Curry at Brick Lane Recommendations thread has me wondering if there is anywhere closer and better.
I'm not looking for anything fancy, just good, tasty food. One of the group is a veggie so if there is a veggie place that would be good, but the rest of us are meat eaters so either is cool.
What have you got London people?

'Curry 2000' (ignore the name) is the best of the bunch, I'd say.

It's next to the Bethnal Green Tesco as far as I can remember, so pretty close to York Hall

I went here just before Christmas:
http://www.lahorekebabhouse.com/

Food was brilliant and there was quite a bit of vege stuff too - was sat next to a Hindu mate and his food was awesome, in particular the Chilli Paneer and the Chilli Mogo (which weren't on the menu but were produced without any fuss)

highly recommended.

you'd be better off having a slat beef bagel than a ruby on brick lane

as mentione tayyabs is the place to head to
