very good idea - almost......
From the pics that looks like this attaching to the heater/AC so no fresh air.
here is my setup that is nicely blowing fresh air in the car.
I would say that the factory kit may be of a good use if you use it with one T and one inlet in the front
like mine. I would have bought it since the sourcing of the hoses on the alfa romeo air ducts was really eating time.
On a next car i might even install two hoses one at each side, in the summer you cannot have
enough air going in the cockpit headachefurious

Indeed, good for fresh air (does look like a piece of Dyson kit...laugh ). I wonder however, if it doesn't cut out too much cooling air to the brakes?

Where is the air sourced from for the factory kit? Are there any more photos of the routing of the hose?

Very much interested in this.

Thanks for the updates.

Like the look of that.

T off the dash vents looks like. Good idea as you can close screen vents to push the aircon cool air through the face vents or vice versa.

I found my vents located there and plumbed into the aircon, absolute life savers in static traffic on euro trips over 30 degrees ambient.

Good work.

PS - how's the fit on the back of the front flange of the vent. That area is a double compound curve and I had to heat the vent and form it by hand into a DC shape. Not easy.

Is it true that this originates in a T junction with the current system and does not source fresh air from outside the car?

Hi Ken,

My understanding is that you T-off the existing AIRCON setup (not sure if you or spatz have aircon fitted?). This gives cold (or hot) air from the existing system, rather than fresh air from outside (the helicopter vents still serve that purpose very well).

A bit more elegant than having to use 40mm waste pipe (not that there's anything wrong with that smile )

Spatz - I had a 6 vent sytem in the Can-Am.

2 in the footwells to combat the radiator heatwash.
2 in the sides of the dash (same position as these factory ones - immitation/flattery etc wink )
2 in the dash top for the windscreen demist.

This did the job far more effectively than the setup I had in the GTR.

If the time ever presents itself available the plan for my car is to fabricate small scoops that face forward in the double skinned area ahead of the radiator. They will direct airflow between the skins to the area behind the radiator where a flexible duct will then carry fresh air to the cabin. I fitted flanges for flexible hose to the sides of the heater motor so they will be the target for the fresh air. The only problem so far with this plan is the time presenting itself.

My car does't have a/c but the windows are easily removed. This has worked very well as long as I can maintain a decent speed.

When I stick my hand out the window I've found that the air available in the lower third of the side window is hot from the radiator and the upper portion is cool.

Get's you thinking that the heli vents at the bottom is not a good idea if they are in a warm stream of air

yes that is what i noticed too ! so if you have vents in the windows there all you get is hot air from the radiator !

cool idea, but how wet do you get when you drive in rain with this system ;-)

I think that it would be a miracle if any water made it though to the cabin, if it did it would aid in evaporative cooling.

I have been running a fresh air system for 6 years and water does not come in. The air pipe starts from one of the small ducts in the front alongside the radiator duct. One of the best things I did.

Water does seep in around the helicopter vents.
