water pump issues etc etc etc
Discussion
Ive had a nightmare trying to change my waterpump on my 1999 318(e46).The fact of the matter is some clown has had a go at some point and rounded off the inside of the large allen key bolt at the top of the waterpump.Has anybody got any ideas how to get round this problem?Im really grasping at straws. When ever I use the car there is always a few spots of coolant in the undertray.Ive had the radiator and expansion tank changed because the radiator was deffinatley leaking so Im presuming its the water pump as my car has now done 86000 miles and could do with doing.Ive checked all pipes etc but cant find anything.Any ideas of what else to check?Secondly when ever I park facing upwards on a hill I get a wiff of oil coming into the cabin.Once I set off again the smell goes.Ive had a look and cant see anything obvious.Im pressuming if there is a leak it will at the back of the engine because as I say I only get the wiff when Im either parked or stuck in traffic pointing up hill(engine running).Just need the the thing to hold out for a few months before she goes.Ive had hardly any trouble with it for years but the last 12 months have been very costly.Sorry for going on abit just cheesed off.Any input on the above would be great.
If you have clearance around the outside of the bolt head try something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Irwin-Bolt-Grip-Remover-39...
Or if things get real difficult get someone to weld a piece of hex stock to the bolt head.
