Sorry if this has already been done to death but am about to change from runflats on my 335d...am looking at Ultrac Sessanta or PS2- what's the collective view on these options please?

Been running Vredesteins on my E46 M3 CS for over 40k miles now (so more than one set!) and I like them. They replaced the original equipment PS2's and, while I thought they were good tyres as well, for me they didn't offer anything over the Vredesteins; in fact, if anything there was a touch more road noise and a slightly inferior ride with the PS2's and they obviously cost a lot more to buy as well. Some people will tell you that the PS2's last a lot longer but that wasn't my experience either; from memory the first set of Vredesteins on the rear lasted the best part of 20k miles and the PS2's were no better than that.Cheers guy's

Initially I bought the Vredesteins on the back of a favourable review in Evo magazine and they rated the Ultrac Sessanta's higher than either the Michelins or Bridgestones that came as original equipment on the E46 M3. There may be a newer design of tyre that's better still but between the two you've suggested I'd say give the Vredesteins a go!
Got the Sessantas on my 123d Coupe and T350C I'd say that they are a good tyre from the allround perspective but if after front end/grip feel there maybe better tyres out there as both mine seem to be more under steer prone when leaning on the front. It could be that more -ve camber is needed to get the tyre gripping better so if the M3 maybe better in that respect as both mine are at -0.5 front camber at the mo.

Not found that to be a problem and again I'd say the Sessantas are no different from the PS2's in that respect. However, as per my initial post, the Evo review that rated the Vredesteins so highly was several years ago and hence there may indeed be better tyres out there now. I'd probably investigate that if all four tyres needed replacing but of late my replacements have been in pairs with the front out of synch with the rear; therefore, I've just stuck with Vredesteins to keep all four the same!Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
