Saturday morning is obviously holiday time! Our daughter is 7 weeks old and we are also desperate for a bit of sun for a week so any suggestions welcome.

It's our first and I am guessing that we probably don't want to be going on a long-haul flight, so what choices do we have for a bit of sun?

What was travelling to S.A. with a 6 month-old like?

It was no problem. The flight leaves HR at 8.30pm so by the time you have settled in to the flight its time for sleep. Also you get space for the baby to sleep so they are not on your lap for the whole flight!

You will never find travel as easy again as it is with a six month old. They cannot walk and they still sleep a lot. A year later, you will be in the Hell zone that lasts from about a year old until Four when they are finally able to entertain themselves for long periods.

We are in the same boat looking for some Feb/March sun but travelling with out 6/7 month old depending upon month of travel. I think Eygpt is the front runner and then the Canary Islands, then Antiuga or Barbados.

We think that 25 Deg is about the right temp, having been born in the UAE I am tempted by Ras Al Khaimah?

Any thoughts.

Your fellow aircraft passengers will hate you, fact. How about a nice drive to France?

As stated by others, anywhere you like - within reason - it won't be as easy for a good few years. We went to Minorca with a five month old.

Tell you one thing though, you will take so much stuff it will feel like moving house biggrin

After a recent trip to oz, we suddenly realised what business/first gives you for the money, no fking kids.

Why oh why do people take children long haul? Totally unfair on all the other passengers.

Don't be an arse, drive somewhere nice instead.

Agreed, I cant understand why people drag little kids on flights of any kind, only to swelter in 45 degree heat at the other end for a week... poor little urchins.

The tears and wailing I've seen before, it's like the little buggers are being tortured! Why put them through it...

And god forbid you get a delayed flight and end up sat on your arse at the airport slowly running out of milk, nappies and baby wipes while the airline lies to you about what has happened to your flight and gives you a sweaty sarnie as "compensation".

Drive somewhere nice.

there are when we go on holiday. There'll be three this year between a few months and five years old. They hardly make any noise in most flights.

Our little un been tortured to the other extreme -40c during winter season since she was 6 months , now 15 months , loves planes , so far she just cuddles up and sleeps the whole flight ....think the small bottles of duty free whisky might have something to do with this

Or go somewhere like Portugal where it will be mostly other families or grandparents on golfing trips on the flight. Either they are quite pleased and have a cuddle, or are too polite to look too miffed.

We took our three month old to NZ. No problems, they fit in the cots rather than on your lap, and sleep the whole way. All much harder when they are two.

Sounds good, until you realise your baby can only be in his car seat for 3 hours at a time. Makes it a VERY long drive I expect!

We've been lucky with our daughter on flights, but nothing more than 4 hours and an empty seat for her too (through luck or pleading).

Plenty of new books or toys she hasn't seen before, and some of the fruit smoothie pouch things they suck do the trick.
