Any tricks for refitting water hoses (turbo connections)

Have been replacing the water hoses to the rear turbo after one of the joints failed but can I get the hose back onto the turbo connections...................No
Are there any tricks (lubricant etc) or is it brute force???

Vasiline. Or how ever it's spelt. Slips right in there.
