Adding Power Fold Mirrors

Has anyone ventured with adding power fold mirrors. I wonder how hard and how much it would cost for the pieces?

My 57 V8VR has electrically adjustable mirrors, which the dealer set to power-fold when the ignition was turned off. You can't do this yourself, but the dealer can. Is that what you mean?

My DB9 has power fold mirrors which operate when you push both L & R buttons at the same time. The mirrors can be set to various settings through the driver options on the on board computer including the "fold when ignition turned off" option also can be set to "dip when reverse selected" so you don't kerb those exspensive alloys. Surprised you can't do this on a V8V and has to be done by dealer?

that's right its shows on the amds but does not program this feature,

not all cars come with the powerfold mirrors as not all have hid headlamps, although the majority do have these features

I was asking because I am look at few Vantages and one that I am most seriously looking at has almsot all the options I desire but not power fold mirrors. Getting into my garage is tight and power fold mirror would be a plus. I am hoping that the wiring is resident in all Vantages and would only requre adding the switches and motors, at which cost I do not know.

Jack, I'm in a similar situation. It's not until you drive the Vantage everyday you realise how wide it is and what a benefit powerfold mirrors are. I don't have them on mine, however my car is going up to be serviced next week at DMS so I will be asking the same question you have asked. I will let you know the outcome (unless somebody comes along in the meantime)

Don't get hung up on power folding mirrors.
Mine doesn't have them I was more focussed on getting a Sports Pack car and 700W stereo
If it doesn't have them I don't think it can be retrofitted with out changing mirrors.

I'm not certain of this, but looking straight on at my V8VR, I think the mirrors don't extend beyond the bodywork at its widest. I decided the mirrors might be good "cats whiskers". I'd rather touch a mirror than bodywork.

+1 - I have powerfold mirrors but they are fully out when squeezing into the garage as my guage

Wide!? The V8V is narrow!! What are you comparing to?

I don't have powerfold mirrors, but I did have them on my previous car and found that I never used them because realistically mirrors don't hang much over the wings of a car anyway; just don't park on a really narrow street, and if you do then fold the relevant one in manually.

Previous car was a 997 and currently also have a Full Fat RR.

I find the rear arches on the Vantage quite wide when parking. Maybe it's just that I'm not used to it, I haven't been out there with a tape measure, I just keep surprising myself how close I am to the car next to me when parking in a multistory.

It is certainly a hard car to park due to the seating position and view; for interest here are the width measurements without mirrors via a quick google search; I threw in random RR and 997 models.

Range Rover Sport 196cm
AM V8 Vantage 186cm
Porsche 997 Carrera 181cm

I've sort of amazed myself looking these up because my previous Audi S5 Cabriolet was 185cm wide and I would have sworn the Aston was thinner; it feels tiny in comparison!

It looks thin from the front
But the flared rear arches give it a big booty!
Rear arches are almost the same width as the mirrors in the out position.
Try parking a roadster with the roof up!

I know exactly how that is! Because of this big booty for my first few times parking it I would regularly have the nose pointing towards the kerb with both wheels equidistant from it - of course this is not right if you get what I mean.

I can't get my V8V into my garage (double but with single doors) without folding the mirrors in. There is no doubt that the mirrors protrude a good few cms further out than the arches.

To finally answer the OP's original question, the answer is yes

I've heard back from Rick today and he'll be fitting them to mine whilst it's having it's annual service.

So if you see the car you want without them, go for it.
