Santapod RWYB this sunday
Discussion
Anyone else on here going to Santapod this sunday 25th April For a "Run What ya brung" I always said that i would never take the T350c on the drag strip!! As i was scared that bits might fall off!!.....But what the hell eh?? Life's to short.
So post on here if you are thinking of going, it's an early start, so you need to be there by 9am, as there is a limited amount of cars that they will let sign on!!! don't forget your helmet if your car can reach 100mph in a quarter mile,(it's not a TVR if it can't)
You could try the web address.... www.santapod.com where you can get all the info you might require if you are a first timer like me!!
Good luck and hope to see you there(weather permitting)

Have you seen the new car on the block, a Cooper green Cerbie heading in the Rayne direction?
Dave
I think I'll stick with the usual.
I've not seen the new one yet. I will keep my eyes open for it. Do you see it at the same time of day each time?
Do you know that I haven't seen you in yours around here. Always at the meeting!! DRIVE IT MORE
Have a good day at the strip. Let us know how you get on.

If you're going, I'll come and watch and cheer you on. But dont embarass us!!!! Theres quite a few heavily modded GTO's that turn up, and the odd Peugot and Corsa too... be prepared
If you aint done it before, its best to practice in an empty large car park your starting off heel-toe and mega-quick-shifting techniques before going to one of these shows, otherwise you will feel quite embarrassed when you get back in the queue with a real bad 1/4 mile time.
But if you're still going and in it just for fun and dont get embarrased, then have a great day!
I might pop along, but in the daily ride, the tivs out of action at the moment.

Are you still definitely going? I'll hook up with you if you want, any other PH'ers coming?
I'll be in my 3000GT, might get convinced to give it a go, although I dont think I'll quite hit the times compared to most due to lack of upgrades. lol. unless my ripspeed tax disc holder constitutes an upgrade???
Best time to get in, is get there by 8ish, and bring some sarny's and a nice 15 year old bottle of sharp red wine with ya... I'll bring the stomach.....

Hmmm, Santa Pod not far from my house.....
Great... maybe if you blast it down there, I'll be tempted to do the same...
The more the merrier... anymore???? Come on all, lets have some straight line fun, after all, thats what our cars are best at... (too bad I cant take mine, the daily will have to do)
Valhalla's eye catching yellow T350C will lead the pack, and stalling is unforgiveable!!!

yep we are still going, not sure we will be there by eight though!!I hope i'm not the only tiv to give it a go, but i have now been told from a "well" seasoned drag racer (techman)that i would be lucky to get more than one run in!!never mind eh im commited to go now.
I was checking over the car in readiness for the day out, (bearing in mind that i had my six thousand mile service on Wednesday), I thought that i should perhaps check the oil level. Well i'm glad i did!! because the oil barely came onto the bottom of the dipstick.I send my son out to buy some for me,(1ltr)And would you believe it took nearly all of it to bring it between the min & max lines,
I know my dealer comes on here, so they better be ready for a phone call on monday.

Yep "they all do that sir"... thats one of the many reasons I stay a mile away from dealers... but you got a new baby, so its got to be stamped by them for a good resale... its a bitch, but good idea to check everything over while its still at their joint next time... also good idea to ask them what exactly they changed and fixed etc etc, otherwise you'll be burning more money than needed...
might be a headache, but a another good idea, is to get the service done and then book it in for a session at a trusted indie just to give it the once over to confirm things... it might sound like a waste of money... but believe me, the 2 odd hours labour of checking things out is way cheaper than the long term damage those dealers inflict 'by accident?'....
Sorry I did a no-show. Felt like hell when I got up this morning, and decided sleep was more important, since I've got to be up before 5 tomorrow morning. Hope you all had a good time.
Valhalla, that oil thing's worrying. And what's even more disturbing is that it's the second time I've heard the same story in a week (Tuscan the first time)

Fish says, did you check it when it was cold or hot? He has tried to read it when the car is cold, and the oil has hardly registered, but when hot, it has read ok.
But then again if it took nearly a litre it was obviously empty
Fish would be very annoyed with the dealer too

Hi everyone
we're back safe and sound, even though we were the only tiv there,i was a bit disapointed that i only managed the 1/4 mile at 99.84 mph with an e.t of 13.693 seconds.I was with a Focus RS, And i beat it well and truly, second time it was a very moded Triumph Dolomite Sprint, blew that away to!!!
But those Jap cars opened my eyes a bit though, coz they were doing the quater mile quicker than i was.
When Diane had a go, she was with a Ford Gt40,and she nearly had him on the finish line!! i was well impressed with her, her next run she got red lighted, so no time for that run.
As it was our first time, we came away very pleased with ourselves.
The car had crowds of laxpower type's around it all day, boy was i grinning.

Hi Lisa,The car was warm as i had been out in it for half an hour previous. I rearly dont know what to do about poor wormanship, all i will say is they better ship up or ship out, because i will soon name and shame them. And i don't care who i upset!!!!(They better believe it!!)

The one I heard about wasn't just low on oil. Came back from service and when checked the next day, had NO oil in it! Been drained and not refilled.
Now that's an oversight!
My view is that you don't work for years to afford a car like this so that someone else can be careless with it. Harsh words must be spoken methinks.

PS, I've seen that Cerbie parked in Rayne, It was parked near a house that used to have a Cerbie a while back.
