As the title really... There's a lot of emotion wrapped up in the noise an aircraft makes, as well as it's looks. I'd probably admit i'm seduced by the noise most!

Low level passes always get the blood pumping. A few of my favourites. smile

Best sounding aircraft ever. Watched four of these take off in quick succession at fairford years ago and it was the best thing I have ever heard.

The fly-by that always sticks in my mind is a pair of F-104 Starfighters (West German Luftwaffe I think) doing a low pass along the runway at IAT at Greenham Common. You could see them coming in from the right, but they were so low and so fast that you couldn't hear anything until they were directly in front of you when a wall of noise just hit without warning.

Tried to find a Lightning going vertical after take-off but no luck. This was the closest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S7Mj33jhek

The Eurofighter is a much much nicer sound. During the summer we get F-15s, Tornadoes, Harries (well we did), Tuccanos [sp?] and Eurofighters doing a mixture of low level and dog fighting. The Typhoons stopped the entire village centre when they first arrived - dogfighting at HA. Literally everyone stopped, stared up in the sky and just watched.

The F-15s are just loud ( a dull roar), whereas the Typhoons are louder, but have a very very angry crackle sound to their engines - it has a tearing fabric quality to it. Superb sound.

Like the way you can see the firing order...nice!

Got to say I love both pistons & jet but if I had to choose.....piston V & radial are just amazing. A RR Merlin for me is 'the' best... cloud9

Well put there sir. I also think the Typhoon has a lovely sound smile one of the best indeed.

This was taken from the bright yellow Landy seen at the beginning of the previous clip of the Vulcan at Cosford:
