F1 2013 1.6 turbo but what configuration?

Will these be inline, V4, flat, slanted?

Got me thinking about how you would packaqge such a engine. I thought a flat might be best because it would be low but then thought fitting a turbo and induction around it might be a compromise.

Does anyone know?

I think the current proposals say inline.

Inline. But its not been agreed by all teams yet. Audi are pushing hard for inline but the likes of Ferrari who have never built and inline engine (Im pretty sure im making that up) want a V formation.

The regulations should leave it open. They're already restrictive enough by specifying capacity, forced induction etc. At least let the teams decide what configuration they want so the cars can vary slightly (and I mean slightly) in terms of centre of gravity, aero, cooling etc.

You're right, you are Ferrari won several F1 and sportscar world championships using inline 4 cylinder engines in the '50s.

I agree.... but that's not the FiA's way though, where they just see F1 as an expensive version of Formula Ford.

Be great to see a mix of inline4, flat 4 and V4 engines.

Don't see why they can't do as before, just make it 1600cc FI, not restrict it 4 cyl's either....? But again, wouldn't suit FiA's FF vision of F1
