Thinking of going to Star City on friday as looks as though it has a few things to hold interest. Thinking a game of mini golf then bowling then onto the cinema. Looking around have seen a few references to "Stab City" though, is it bad or are people just trying to be funny?

Any advice appreciated.

Think it's like anywhere else of that ilk - chain bars, a cinema, bowling etc. Just bear in mind the local population... you know, Brummies

It's a wonderful place. A place where only you'd go if you had no other option. Or if you were of a certain ethnic group.

There's a Nando's and a Subway and a bowling place and a cinema and some other things.

It's a nice place but I feel it has been rinsed by some of the chavvy plonka's from around that area.

I am of a certain ethnic group

was just thinking of going as the wife still like crazy golf (despite her being 30!) live in derbyshire so not too far away, its her birthday and was trying to think of something different to surprise her.

sounds like probably best left alone then?

I was going email you this week about the hnc! I wouldn't bother with star city, for fear of getting banned if I say here, I'll email you why.

just figured it was like meadowhall but without the shopping!

feel free to email me about the HNC up until 0730 anyway! guess you run a six week shift pattern as we seem to do a lot of nights at the same time.

There's a good cinema there, but the rest of the place seems quite sterile and lifeless.

Just to point out the golf in mini golf and not crazy golf, there's not a little windmill in sight frown

Yeah what he said^^^ stayed in a hotel across the road from it (purple hotel or something, it was nice actually although don't think its there anymore).
I think I spent about and hour there and got bored.

Long way to come to go out there!! I live about 8 miles away and only been 2-3 times in 6 years ( not a crumble tho). Think you really would be disappointed / annoyed if you travelled that distance for it!

It would defintely be a surprise but probably not the kind you're intending.

Unless you're the kind of guy who's currently browsing for cheap flights to Tunisia that is.

+1 your standard mini complex. nothing special and depending on day/time wil be populated by teens.

I'd rather eat my own face than spend a second in that god-awful place.

It's beyond low-rent. Every scum bag in this city seems to spend their time there.

Unless you're a fan of Bollywood, I don't see any attraction.

It also has a weird, isolated, lawless feel to it being so far from the city centre and in the middle of old industrial wasteland.

Seriously, do something else smile

It's a bit dull but hardly the dodge city that others are making out. Can anyone link to a news story reporting trouble there?

Multiplex cinema, nando's, crazy golf, parking, 5-a-side.

Yes, their are Asians there! A couple of screens of the multiplex show Bollywood films and I think the Nandos is Halal but unless you are a member of the BNP I don't really think it's a problem.

I never seen any trouble there and compared to the city centre/broad street where the other cinemas are located there is probably no difference in Chav levels.
