When I click once on the (extremely badly designed) wiper button to get the intermittent setting going, the blades stick halfway across the windscreen (right in my line of vision typically), even if it's raining cats and dogs. The next two settings (on and faster) work fine.

Does this sound like the wiper motor could be iffy, or perhaps that I just need new blades?

Anyone know what kind of blades I need (e.g. are they a stock part from a another car)?

It's a year 2000, 4.5 LW if that makes a difference.

Cheers,
Gixxer

My 4.2 had the same problem. Offords changed the park switch (i think hat is what it is called) amd everything hunky dunky. Cost was under £20 for the part.Labour was part of the service.

GIXXER,
The Cerb shares its wiper motor with the older type of mini, not BMW, I had this problem on my Mini Cooper as well as the Cerb. I would have a look at the a earth for the wiper motor and check that the gearing is nicely greased and lubed. Check the control wheel boexes too, clean Lube and rebuild.

Its just a question of taking it apart and putting it back together, do it today while the sun is out, hang on?

SOD IT GO FOR A BLAST AND BUY RAIN X!

Mine does this sometimes. I find a liberal covering of washing up liquid on the blades sorts it out
