So, my renewal came in the post today from Elephant.

No new convictions, for me or SWMBO, no claims, same address, same car, +1 year more NCB...

Who want's to guess if the policy a) decreased/increased and b) What percentage by?

Increase by 41%?

Mine was just that (Admiral). I cancelled, took out a new policy with them and saved
over £500 on the renewal price.

This was the first year that Elephant actually offered me a lower renewal and I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else. It was still £800 for the year or something stupid like that.

Yep. Although in the past I've simply gotten another quote from them as a 'new' customer and asked them to price match themselves...

I have gotten an alternative quote of £650 elsewhere as a plan B.

A friend in the trade says they 'literally don't want your busines', hence the bonkers rise.

My son pays similar for his FTO , no consolation I know. Just wait till you're an old fart like some here and find out how cheap insurance is.

(there are certain downsides though)

If/when you go on to the online price comparison websites, check just who's sponsoring them. I noticed that at least two are run by the same company,(read the online submissions) an independant arm/broker of a major high street bank (advertised as your local bank).
Which makes me wonder just how any one of the online lot can consider themselves to be the cheapest, when at least two are services by same broker .

I was always in the region of £400 for the Muzzy, and even when my points arrived it only bumped it up to £450 then on the 1st the renewal came in at a whopping £650 and this was with a popular advertiser on here!! I switched to Flux as they came in at a very good £450.

I never got anywhere with that comparison websites due to it being an import, but even when I tried with other cars they still were not any cheaper!!

My insurance went down last year and the renewal was around £50 lower than anywhere else on the internet.

And the winner is... Adrian Flux!

Even more so because the monthly payment is £4 more than now, but there is no payment in December or January, which is good!

Watch out for their renewal next year. They try to screw you like everyone else until you phone up have a moan at them and suddenly they can beat any price that you have found from any other insurer. Dont know why they dont just give you this quote in the first place.

I'm with Directline and at renewal time ask to be put through to retentions team who have very sharp pencils and can make nice reductions to keep your business

No loyalty to insurers ever, so I'll no doubt be doing this again next year.

IIRC, directline wanted over a grand from me...

It's usually Admiral who give me my cheapest quote these days, but I'm with More Than at the moment for some reason!
Just can't be bothered paying the early cancellation fee to setup a new policy with someone else.

I've never looked into Adrian Flux, but I hear good things.
Going to be looking for a new car come summertime, so I'll be giving them a bell smile

If you look, there is a VIP department Flux employee who is a member here; AshfromFlux (or something).

I emailed her direct & she has been really good. Give them there dues, Flux were cheaper for me to insure an R32 than elephant wanted on the GTI...

She usually responds to people that put up their grievances on this thread.
