AARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
Discussion
I thought I would take the chance to pop the front indicator off my M3 to see why it was only working sporadically. It can only be a 10 minute job, surely?
First issue was finding out how to get the damn thing out, but finally figured out that there is a screw above it and by simply unscrewing it, the unit will pop out and I can check it all over. Great. Until.....
The screw and spacer drop into the front bumper/undertray. Fine, I thought, I can just get under the car, remove that part of the undertray and get on my merry little way complete with a working indicator. Oh no, no, no, my friends, that would just be too simple.....
Some complete retard of a previous owner has clearly done the same thing before and has rounded off the 638th, and final, screw (yes, screw, not bolt, torque head or anything normal) that needs removing to detach a 10 square inch undertray piece. This now means that I need to get hold of my local parts dealer and explain to one of the people, who have all failed their McDonalds exam to get a job there, exactly what I need. This will shortly be followed by being relieved of £30 for a 99p part and the endless irritation of the old piece rattling around under the car, giving me a constant reminder of just how much of a fool I was thinking that I could fix something with my stubby, clumsy, retarded sausage fingers.
Needless to say, I am now on my way to the padded room upstairs that I put in just after buying an M3 for instances just like this. Bugger it.

Cant you just find a screw and spacer to do the job at at your local hardware/DIY shop? You will probably have to buy the entire headlight unit if you go to the stealers!!
As for the screw lodged behind the bumper,i doubt you will hear it when inside the car driving and it will probably find its own way out in time.

Managed to get it fixed in the end. Got the undertray off and replaced the screw that was rounded off, got the spacer out and put it back in. I now have 3 fully functioning indicators on each side of my car.
