Mounting of gas shocks...?

How are they mounted?

On my Chim the adjusting knobs faced down towards the road - to adjust them you lay on the ground and reached up to turn the adjuster.

Got a Griff now and the adjusting knob is on the opposite side ie facing the back of the brake disc? I havent tried but I would imagine the only way to adjust them in this position is to remove the wheel which is a bit impractical...

It doesnt look like it would make any difference to the actual operation and I'm not into messing about with my dampers every day just would like to know which way is correct.

Wont make any difference to the working of them. But like you say the logical way round is with the adjuster facing inside towards the road so you can get easy access to it.

This is what I thought....will either swap them over this winter (but have loads of other jobs to do...) or maybe next winter instead as I am quite happy with the way the car drives.

You should regularly click them on and off a bit to ensure the control mechanism still works when you want it to, as they catch all sorts of crud under there.
so its worth investing an hour to rotate them round while you have it in the air this winter.

Inversion is a sprung vs unsprung weight thing. If you don't understand it then it probably doesn't matter which way you mount them

sounds more like the damper base is simply turned through 180degrees rather than the dampers mounted a different way up

Will get my finger out and swap them round this year!
